Concentration in chess is no less important than in boxing – loss of concentration is fraught with rapid defeat. Here’s what it says about concentration on Wikipedia:
Concentration of attention is the retention of information about an object in short-term memory. This retention involves the allocation of the “object” as a concept from the general idea of the world.
Concentration of attention is one of the properties of attention. Other properties of attention: stability, volume and switchability. Violation of the ability to concentrate is called “distracted attention.”

Chess Challengers Tournament
To determine the rival of the world champion in the world championship match, contests of applicants are held. In 1946, the international chess organization FIDE adopted a new world championship system.
The first tournament of such a system took place in 1950 in Budapest from April 9 to May 20. Competitions were held in 2 circles, 10 participants played. Of the 6 participants in the 1948 match-tournament, 4 grandmasters participated – Vasily Smyslov, Paul Keres, Samuel Reshevsky, Max Euwe. 5 winners of the interzonal tournament were admitted to the competition, the American grandmaster Royben Fine received a personal invitation. Blitz in chess
A game of chess requires a fairly quick pondering of moves. But the introduction of a blitz game in a London club at the end of the 19th century became nonsense. First, the players were given 30 seconds to think about the moves, then the time was reduced to 10 seconds. The game itself took place in 5 minutes, for which it was called five-minute.
It’s more difficult to play blitz – a chess player must quickly calculate options and combinations, which not all experienced players can do. Grandmaster is not always a strong blitz.
